Review (Scott McCutcheon 16/01/25)

It’s only the middle week in January and two films are released on the same date that could just end up being two of the worst films of 2025. One is William Tell the other is Emmanuelle, a reboot of the infamous 1974 soft porn film that no one really remembers anymore.

In the 1974 film Emmanuelle was married and had adulterous relationships now in 2024 she’s an independent woman who can do whatever she likes.

Dispatched to Hong Kong by her company Emmanuelle (Noémie Merlant) is tasked by doing a review of one of the company’s hotels. The aim of the review is to find something wrong so that they can sack the current manager (Naomi Watts looking as if she would like to be doing anything rather than playing a role in Emmanuel).

In between her hotel work, which doesn’t appear to be very much, Emmanuelle has a number of sexual encounters with some of the hotel guests.

Many people will go to Emmanuelle, as they did for the 1974 version and its many sequels for the sex, if that is your thing don’t bother as the few sex scenes that there are wouldn’t offend your granny.
