Ghost Killer, a USA Japan co-production, could best be described as part Venom part John Wick.
When Japanese hitman Hideo (Masanori Mimoto) is brutally murdered the assassins leave behind a bullet cartridge. Found by college student Fumika (Akari Takaishi) her possession of the cartridge bonds Hideo’s spirit to her.
Finding out that the only way to get exorcise his ghost is to avenge his death Fumika agrees to do Hideo’s bidding. A touch between the pair lets Hideo enter Fumika’s body given her his not inconsiderable fighting skills.
The plot is pretty thing on the ground, it mostly consists of comic banter between the two and fight scenes. Given that it’s a martial arts film I don’t imagine anyone turning up to see Ghost Killer will be too disappointed about the lack of a decent plot. If it’s fight scenes you’re after Ghost Killer has them in spades.
Ghost Killer might not be the greatest martial arts film ever but it’s lot of fun and you can’t ask for much more than that.
