The film is about Hilma af Klint (1862-1944), a pioneer of abstract art who
has only been recognized and celebrated as a true visionary after her
death. She was born in Stockholm and developed an abstract visual language
as early as 1906 – long before the male artists who have long been regarded
as forerunners of abstract art in the 20th century. An equally important
part in the depiction of her life is Hilma's spiritual side. She formed the
group "The Five" played in the film by Lily Cole, Catherine Chalk, Rebecca
Calder and Maeve Dermody.
