Review Glasgow Film Festival (Scott McCutcheon 10/03/25)

Crispin Glover, who will always be remembered for playing George Mc Fly in Back to the Future (1985), turns up in Mr K a Dutch Austrian coproduction that is so bizarre that I would imagine it’ll struggle a hit a cord with main stream audiences.

Glover plays Mr K, a magician who checks into a hotel only to find that there’s no way out and it’s strange residents, including a pair of elegant sisters and a kitchen full of egg chefs - who view him as a potential saviour.

I would image given the strange visuals and even stranger storyline that director Tallulah H Schwab has been heavily influenced by the films of Terry Gilliam. Sadly Mr K struggles to work on any level. The ending being so strange it’s hard to figure out what message Schwab and his screenwriters are trying to get across.
